Financing Agreements and Documentation in Project Finance
The deal is only as strong as its documents — loan agreements, security packages, covenants and risk allocation clauses read the way lenders and sponsors actually contest them.

In project finance, the deal is only as strong as its documents — and documentation drafted imprudently gets priced in default, not at signing. With commercial banks returning to project finance since 2008, IFIs still active in developing markets, and many PPPs combining Viability Gap Financing with commercial and concessional lending, sponsor support is often the deal breaker. This intensive, interactive programme — seminars, case studies and exercises — builds documentation skill for corporate and structured finance: the role of each project document, risk allocation traced into the contractual clauses, security documents, covenant issues and the key provisions of project loan agreements. The cohort works through connecting the actual conduct of a project to its contractual obligations.

Frequently asked
Who should attend the project finance documentation programme?
It is built for bankers and investment bankers in project and structured finance, project finance modellers and financial advisors, credit and risk analysts, managers and heads, and sponsors and project joint ventures. The intensive, interactive format — seminars, case studies and exercises — assumes participants negotiate or monitor live documentation.
Is this a legal course? Do I need to be a lawyer?
No. This is professional training for finance practitioners, not legal advice. It builds working command of the documents the deal depends on — the role of each project document, risk allocation traced into the contractual clauses, security documents, covenant issues and the key provisions of project loan agreements — so that bankers, analysts and sponsors can connect the actual conduct of a project to its contractual obligations.
