Auditing Basel II, Basel III and the ICAAP

Risk-based internal audit of Basel II, Basel III and the ICAAP — participants build audit programmes their firms can use the week after.

The programme

The greatest threat to a bank is risk that is never properly identified, measured or managed — the unexpected losses that follow can threaten institutions of any size, as the financial crisis proved. Basel III answers with more risk-sensitive capital requirements, broader risk coverage, stronger loss absorbency and buffers built during good times to absorb losses in periods of stress. This internal audit course applies the risk-based audit approach to these business areas, and participants develop audit programmes during the training that their firms can use in practice.

What you will do

Audit Basel II and Basel III compliance with a risk-based approach, focused where unexpected losses actually arise.
Test how risks are identified, measured and managed across the institution.
Assess capital buffers and loss absorbency against Basel III’s more risk-sensitive requirements.
Audit the ICAAP as a living process rather than an annual document.
Develop audit programmes during the course that transfer directly to your firm’s practice.

Frequently asked

Will I leave with audit programmes I can actually use?

Yes — that is the design of the course. Participants develop audit programmes during the training itself, applying the risk-based audit approach to the Basel II and Basel III business areas and the ICAAP, and tailor the work so their firms can put the programmes to use in practice.

Who is the course designed for?

Internal auditors and compliance officers first, alongside market, credit, liquidity and operational risk managers, Basel II and Basel III programme managers, heads of economic capital, CROs and CFOs — anyone who must test how risks are identified, measured and managed across the institution.

Is it available in-house and in French?

Yes to both. BIZENIUS delivers the course in English and French, and an in-house edition can be tailored to your institution’s Basel implementation and audit universe. Sessions follow a rolling calendar with dates confirmed on request, and fees and quotations are shared on enquiry.

Capital frameworks built to run the bank, not to satisfy a filing

Most frameworks are written to satisfy the regulator. We build the kind that run the bank.
