Contractor Safety Management

Contractors work half the field hours — this programme builds the prequalification, selection, execution and close-out system that keeps their safety performance yours to manage.

The programme

In many operations contractors work more than half the hours in the field, yet their safety performance is often managed at arm’s length — until an incident makes it the client’s problem. This programme builds a contractor safety management system across the full cycle: prequalify, select, mobilise, execute, demobilise and close out. It draws on recognised frameworks including API Recommended Practice 2220 and the OGP guidelines for working together in a contracting environment, alongside ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001 and HSG65. Knowledge sessions, practical exercises and a running case study take the cohort from contracting strategy through bid documents, selection interviews, performance monitoring and feedback that actually improves contractor performance.

What you will do

Build a contracting supply chain strategy weighted by the risks of outsourcing high-risk, low-risk and specialist activities.
Prequalify and select competent contractors using bid documents that cover HSE and the criteria that matter.
Conduct an effective contractor selection interview and defend the outcome.
Communicate reporting requirements for incidents and emergency preparedness across the contract lifecycle.
Identify and dismantle the barriers that derail contractor safety programmes.
Monitor supply chain performance and feed back results in a way that lifts contractor performance.
Anchor the system in recognised frameworks — API RP 2220, OGP guidelines, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and HSG65.

Who attends

  • Heads of HSE and contractor safety programme owners
  • Contracts, procurement and supply chain managers
  • Project and facility managers who direct contractor work
  • Site supervisors responsible for contractor oversight

Cohorts bring together board members, executives and the rising leaders behind them — kept deliberately small, so every seat is a peer’s.
