QA/QC in Concrete & Steel Structure Projects

A structure is only as strong as its worst undocumented shortcut — QA/QC is how a project proves what it built.

The programme

On structural projects, quality failures are rarely discovered where they happen — they surface years later, under load, in service. This programme builds the QA/QC system that prevents that: inspection and test plans with hold points that mean something; material traceability from mill certificate to member; concrete quality from mix design through placement and curing to strength evidence; welding quality — procedures, welder qualification, NDT selection; and the discipline around non-conformances: reported honestly, dispositioned by engineers, closed with evidence. The records produced are the structure’s biography — this programme treats them that way.

What you will do

Build inspection and test plans whose hold points actually hold
Run material traceability from certificate to installed member
Control concrete and welding quality with the right tests at the right stage
Handle non-conformances with engineering dispositions and closed evidence

Who attends

QA/QC engineers and inspectors; site and project engineers on structural work; construction managers; owner’s representatives supervising contractors.

Cohorts bring together board members, executives and the rising leaders behind them — kept deliberately small, so every seat is a peer’s.

Programme agenda

Built for the decisions no textbook prepares you for

I.The system
  • QA versus QC: building quality in, then proving it
  • ITPs: activities, hold and witness points, acceptance criteria
  • Material control: traceability that survives the laydown yard
II.Concrete and steel
  • Concrete: mix approval, placement, curing, strength evidence
  • Welding: procedures, welder qualification, NDT chosen by risk
  • Bolting, coatings and the finishing trades that fail first
III.When it deviates
  • Non-conformances: reported honestly, dispositioned by engineering
  • Concessions and repairs: accepted with evidence, never by fatigue
  • The quality records: the structure’s biography, assembled as built

Frequently asked

Who is the QA/QC course for?

It is designed for QA/QC engineers and inspectors, site and project engineers on structural work, construction managers, and owner’s representatives supervising contractors. The programme suits both sides of the contract — those who build quality in and those who must prove it was built.

What does the course cover on concrete and welding quality?

Concrete quality is followed from mix design through placement and curing to strength evidence; welding quality covers procedures, welder qualification and NDT selected by risk. Both sit inside inspection and test plans whose hold points actually hold, with material traceability running from mill certificate to installed member.

How does the course handle non-conformances?

As a discipline: non-conformances reported honestly, dispositioned by engineers, and closed with evidence — with concessions and repairs accepted on proof, never by fatigue. The quality records that result are treated as the structure’s biography.

Is the programme available in-house and in French?

Yes. BIZENIUS delivers the course in English and French, and in-house editions can be tailored to your project’s specifications and contract structure. Sessions run on a rolling calendar with dates confirmed on request; fees and quotations are provided on enquiry.
