Emotional Intelligence & Personal Resilience at Work

Careers rarely stall for lack of technical skill. They stall in the pressured moment — the sharp reply, the conversation avoided, the burnout nobody named. How you respond under pressure is a trainable skill, and this programme trains it.

The programme

This is an emotional intelligence course with the fluff removed. Over two days, participants work the mechanics that change behaviour: noticing their reactions early enough to choose a response instead of suffering one; staying composed and clear when deadlines, conflict or criticism raise the temperature; reading colleagues and clients accurately, and bringing empathy into difficult conversations without losing the point; and managing energy — sleep, recovery, workload rhythm and boundaries — so performance is sustainable across a career, not borrowed from next month. Every concept is practised against real workplace situations the cohort brings: the tense handover, the unfair email, the customer who crosses a line, the week that never ends. No personality tests or pop-psychology labels; the material is grounded, practical, immediately usable. Built as an in-house rollout product — mixed cohorts from every function — it gives an organisation a shared language for pressure, feedback and recovery. Delivered in English and French across the Middle East and Africa — Dubai, Riyadh, Nairobi, Accra — and live online.

What you will do

Read your own reactions early — the physical and mental signals that arrive before the words do, and the pause that turns them into choice.
Stay composed and clear under pressure — techniques for the heated meeting, the unfair criticism and the deadline that moves.
Bring empathy into difficult conversations without losing their purpose — listening that de-escalates while the message still lands.
Give and receive feedback that improves the work — direct, specific and free of the sting that makes people defensive.
Build energy and recovery habits that hold — sleep, workload rhythm, boundaries and the early signals of depletion.
Sustain performance over years, not sprints — a personal resilience plan tested against your real calendar, not an ideal one.

Who attends

The whole workforce — this programme is built for in-house rollout across every function and level. It serves individual contributors navigating demanding workloads and difficult stakeholders, team members whose roles run on collaboration and client contact, supervisors and managers who set the emotional weather for their teams, and senior professionals who have carried pressure for years and want to keep carrying it well. No prior training in the subject is assumed, and no one is asked to share more than they choose to.

Cohorts bring together board members, executives and the rising leaders behind them — kept deliberately small, so every seat is a peer’s.

Programme agenda

Built for the decisions no textbook prepares you for

I.Self-awareness: reading your own signals
  • What emotional intelligence is — and is not: a working definition without the mythology
  • Triggers, patterns and early warning signs: mapping your own under-pressure profile
  • The gap between stimulus and response — and how to widen it in real time
II.Managing reactions under pressure
  • What pressure does to thinking, and why willpower alone fails at the worst moment
  • In-the-moment techniques: breath, language, posture and the deliberate pause
  • Recovering from a bad moment: repairing quickly instead of ruminating for a week
III.Empathy & reading others
  • Listening for what is meant, not only what is said — without playing amateur psychologist
  • Perspective-taking across roles, generations and cultures in an international workplace
  • Empathy with a spine: caring about the person while holding the standard
IV.Difficult conversations
  • Opening well: naming the issue without ambushing the person
  • Staying in the conversation when it heats up — de-escalation that does not surrender the point
  • Feedback in both directions: giving it cleanly, receiving it without armour
V.Energy & recovery habits
  • The physiology of sustained performance: sleep, movement and genuine recovery — practically, not preachily
  • Workload rhythm and boundaries: managing the calendar before it manages you
  • Recognising depletion early — in yourself and in colleagues — and what to do about it
VI.The sustainable performance clinic
  • Working the cohort’s real cases: the situations participants actually face, rehearsed and debriefed
  • A personal resilience plan built against your real calendar and commitments
  • Keeping it alive after the course: habit anchors, peer pairs and the thirty-day review

Frequently asked

Does the programme use personality tests or pop psychology?

No. There are no personality tests, labels or pop-psychology frameworks. The two days work the practical mechanics that change behaviour — noticing reactions early, staying composed under pressure, listening well in difficult conversations, and managing energy and recovery — practised against real workplace situations the cohort itself brings.

Who is the course for, and how personal does it get?

The whole workforce, at every function and level — individual contributors, client-facing staff, supervisors, managers and senior professionals who have carried pressure for years. No prior training in the subject is assumed, and no one is asked to share more than they choose to; the material stays grounded and workplace-focused.

Can it be rolled out in-house across our organisation?

Yes — it is built as a whole-workforce rollout product. Mixed cohorts drawn from every function give the organisation a shared language for pressure, feedback and recovery, and the situations rehearsed are tailored to your working environment. Everything from cohort design to case material is adapted in-house.

How long is it and in which languages is it delivered?

Two days, delivered in English and French across the Middle East and Africa — Dubai, Riyadh, Nairobi, Accra — and live online. Dates follow a rolling calendar and are confirmed on request; fees and whole-workforce rollout quotations are provided on enquiry.
