Safety programmes built on posters and punishment produce compliance when someone is watching — and shortcuts when nobody is. This workshop is founded on the science of behaviour: with a scientific understanding of what drives behaviour, leaders can use positive reinforcement to generate higher rates of safe behaviour and build the engagement and trust a genuinely safe workplace requires. Designed for anyone responsible for the safety of others, the two-day working session gives leaders tools for developing coaching skills that build engagement and improve performance, a process for building positive accountability, and a method for productive problem solving — including how to improve their own safety leadership behaviours and sustain critical safe behaviours in others.

Frequently asked
How is this different from a conventional safety course?
It is founded on the science of behaviour rather than posters and punishment, which produce compliance only when someone is watching. With a scientific understanding of what drives behaviour, leaders use positive reinforcement to generate higher rates of safe behaviour and build the engagement and trust a genuinely safe workplace requires.
What tools do leaders take away from the workshop?
Three practical ones: coaching skills that build engagement and improve performance, a process for building positive accountability instead of blame-driven compliance, and a method for productive problem solving when safety performance slips. Leaders also work on improving their own safety leadership behaviours and sustaining critical safe behaviours in others.
How long is the safety leadership workshop and who is it for?
It is a two-day working session designed for anyone responsible for the safety of others: HSE directors, managers and supervisors, and HSE staff moving into leadership roles. BIZENIUS delivers in English and French, with in-house editions tailored to your organisation; dates are confirmed on request and fees provided on enquiry.
