NEBOSH International Certificate in Fire Safety

Fire does not negotiate with job titles. When the inspection, the insurer or the incident arrives, what counts is whether someone competent owned the fire risk assessment — this qualification makes you that person.

The programme

The NEBOSH International Certificate in Fire Safety is the internationally recognised qualification for managers, facilities professionals and safety practitioners who carry fire safety responsibility without being fire engineers. The programme works through how fires and explosions start and spread; how fuel, oxygen and ignition sources are controlled in practice; the protection a building must provide — compartmentation, detection, alarms, suppression, means of escape; and how to keep people safe when evacuation is complicated by shift patterns, contractors, visitors or reduced mobility. It culminates in the discipline the award is built around: a defensible fire risk assessment of a real workplace. Assessment is in two parts — a scenario-based open-book examination and a fire risk assessment completed at your own workplace, so nothing depends on facilities we provide. Delivered in English and French across the Middle East and Africa — Dubai, Dammam, Doha, Muscat, Lagos — and live online.

What you will do

Justify fire safety investment with the moral, legal and financial case your board and insurers respond to.
Explain how fires and explosions start, spread and are prevented — and read a workplace through that lens.
Specify the protection a building must provide — compartmentation, detection, alarm, suppression and means of escape.
Plan for the safety of every person on site — including contractors, visitors and those needing assisted evacuation.
Complete a workplace fire risk assessment with prioritised, costed remedial actions that stand up to scrutiny.
Advise your employer on fire safety obligations — training, drills, maintenance regimes and record-keeping.

Who attends

Health and safety managers and advisers, facilities and building managers, fire wardens moving into formal responsibility, operations managers in hotels, hospitals, campuses, warehouses and industrial plants, and HSE professionals in oil and gas or mining who need a recognised fire safety credential. No prior qualification is required — suitable English (or French) proficiency is.

Cohorts bring together board members, executives and the rising leaders behind them — kept deliberately small, so every seat is a peer’s.
