Why specialist

What makes it specialist: standards, faculty, advisory practice

  1. Anchored in named standards

Programmes are built on the standards institutions are examined against: Basel III and IV, IFRS 9, 17 and 18, ICAAP and ILAAP, BCBS 239, the FATF Recommendations, AAOIFI and IFSB standards, and Solvency-style insurance regimes.

  2. Practitioner faculty

Faculty hold, or have held, the seats delegates sit in: group treasurers and heads of asset–liability management, chief risk officers, heads of credit and capital, and former central-bank supervisors.

  3. Shaped by the BIZENIUS advisory practices

The curriculum draws on the BIZENIUS advisory practices in capital, liquidity, risk and reporting, so each masterclass reflects how these frameworks are built and reviewed in practice.

  4. Delivered in English and French

Every programme can be delivered in English or in French, across the Gulf, Africa and beyond, in the classroom or live online.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is BIZENIUS Banking Academy?

BIZENIUS Banking Academy brings together the BIZENIUS programmes in banking, finance and insurance: executive education and capacity building for central banks, regulators, banks, insurers and financial institutions. Since 2014, BIZENIUS has trained 10,000+ professionals from 150+ institutions in 45+ countries, the overwhelming majority in banking, finance and insurance.

Does BIZENIUS Banking Academy work with central banks and regulators?

Yes. Central banks and regulators are among the institutions BIZENIUS serves. Supervisory cohorts can run confidentially in-house, separately from the institutions they supervise, and programmes can take the supervisory perspective on each standard.

What is the difference between open masterclasses and institutional programmes?

Open masterclasses are scheduled cohorts, in the classroom or live online, with delegates from several institutions. Institutional programmes run for one institution only, confidentially in-house or online, with dates, emphasis and case studies agreed with your sponsor.

In which languages and locations are programmes delivered?

In English and in French. Open masterclasses run in cities across the Middle East, Africa and beyond, and live online; institutional programmes run at your premises, in your city or online. French delivery opens the curriculum to institutions across francophone Africa.

What do delegates receive on completion?

Delegates who complete a programme receive a BIZENIUS Banking Academy certificate of completion — practice-led, not a certification. What they take back is the ability to apply the standard at their own institution.

How do the programmes relate to Basel, IFRS and AML/CFT standards?

Each programme is built on the standard it covers: the Basel framework, ICAAP and ILAAP for capital and liquidity; IFRS 9, 17 and 18 for reporting; the FATF Recommendations for AML/CFT; AAOIFI and IFSB standards for Islamic finance. Delegates work through how the standard is applied and how supervisors review it.

Who teaches the programmes?

Practitioner faculty who hold, or have held, the seats delegates sit in: group treasurers and heads of asset–liability management, chief risk officers, heads of credit and capital management, and former central-bank supervisors. Between cohorts, the same people advise institutions on these frameworks.

Which banking, finance and insurance topics are covered?

The banking and insurance training spans capital, liquidity and Basel; treasury and ALM; credit and lending; retail and corporate banking; investment and markets; IFRS and financial reporting; compliance and financial crime; insurance; audit and internal control; and Islamic finance — with programmes on AI, digital banking, climate risk and boards for financial institutions.
