What we doAdvisory & ConsultancyStress Testing & Scenario Governance

Scenarios your board recognises as its own risks.

Most stress-testing programmes in the region run imported scenarios through borrowed models and file the results. The board sees a table; nothing in the capital plan moves. Yet stress testing is the one instrument a supervisor can use to see how an institution actually thinks. BIZENIUS builds programmes worth examining: scenarios drawn from your market and your concentrations, severity the board has debated, and governance that carries results into capital, liquidity and pricing decisions.

Where this begins

The gaps this practice is asked to close.

The scenarios came from somewhere else

A template pack — oil shock, rate shock, global slowdown — none calibrated to this balance sheet’s actual concentrations. The board approves severity it has never debated.

The results go nowhere

The exercise completes, the report files, and neither the capital plan nor a single limit moves. The supervisor has noticed the disconnect — it was in the last findings letter.

A board request takes a quarter

The chair asks a simple what-if and the answer arrives three months later, after a manual scramble across risk and finance. Scenario capability exists on paper only.

What we deliver

A programme the supervisor reads as thinking.

A stress-testing engagement leaves your institution with scenarios it owns, machinery it can rerun, and governance that obliges results to land somewhere that matters.

The scenario architecture

Scenarios built from your market, your concentrations and your board’s stated fears — documented with the narrative and severity rationale an examiner asks for first.

Reverse stress tests

The scenarios that would break the institution, located deliberately — the analysis supervisors increasingly expect and boards find most clarifying.

Methodology & models

Translation from scenario to P&L, capital and liquidity — transparent enough to defend, practical enough to rerun without us.

Scenario governance

Who proposes, who challenges, who approves severity, and — decisively — what must change when results breach appetite. In writing, with owners.

The board cycle

An annual rhythm where the board debates scenarios before they run and decisions follow when they land — rehearsed with the committee, not described to it.

How the engagement runs

Diagnose. Design. Build. Embed.

Diagnose

The current programme against supervisory expectations and against use: do results reach a single decision today?

Design

Scenario architecture, methodology choices, governance and the board calendar — sized to your institution.

Build

With your risk and finance teams — scenarios, models and governance packs produced together, run once together.

Embed

A full cycle run by your team with our review, board session included — then the programme is yours.

Perimeter and fee are fixed at the diagnostic — including which risk types and entities the programme covers.

Asked before engaging

The questions CROs put to us first.

We already run the supervisory scenarios. Isn’t that enough?

Supervisory scenarios are the floor, and running only them tells the examiner your programme exists for their benefit rather than yours. What distinguishes a credible programme is internal scenarios drawn from your own concentrations — and evidence that results have changed a decision. That is what we build.

How does this connect to our ICAAP and ILAAP?

Directly — stress testing is where the two documents earn their credibility. We build the scenario programme so its outputs feed capital and liquidity adequacy natively; where we rebuild a client’s ICAAP alongside it, the stress architecture is designed once and serves both.

How long does this take?

Fixed at the diagnostic. A full programme build spans roughly a scenario cycle so your team runs one live round with us; a focused remediation of specific findings is shorter.

Who does the work?

Practitioners who have run stress-testing programmes and defended their results to boards and supervisors — the same bench that teaches our stress-testing masterclasses.

What do you need from us?

The current scenario pack and last results, portfolio data for calibration, and board or risk-committee time at two points: scenario debate and results. Listed in full at the diagnostic.

The ask

Request a confidential programme review.

A senior practitioner reads your scenario pack and last results the way the supervisor will — and tells you, privately, whether the programme would survive the question “show me a decision this changed.”

Confidential by default; under NDA on request. A senior practitioner responds within two working days.
