Risk Management for Insurers Masterclass

Governance-grade risk management for insurance companies — ISO 31000, the full insurer risk universe, appetite-setting and the link through to capital management.

Format

Classroom · Live Virtual

The programme

Risk management in an insurance company is a governance discipline before it is a technical one. This intensive two-day executive programme examines best-practice governance and risk management in insurers — from the ISO 31000 international standard through the full risk universe insurance companies face: strategic, operational, insurance, reserving, credit, liquidity, market, reputational, compliance and legal — and follows the implications through to capital management. The cohort works through setting risk appetite and tolerance, writing the risk management policy and strategy, managing risk culture, and linking appetite to operational control, with the role of stress testing in insurance organisations examined throughout.

What you will do

Apply ISO 31000 to the realities of insurance operations.
Map the full risk universe insurers face — strategic, operational, insurance, reserving, credit, liquidity, market, reputational, compliance and legal.
Set and record risk appetite and tolerance levels so they actually bind decisions.
Write the risk management policy and strategy and link appetite to operational control.
Measure risks and monitor exposures, selecting the most appropriate identification, analysis and ranking techniques.
Manage risk culture in the firm as a governance responsibility, not an afterthought.
Run stress testing in an insurance organisation and carry the results into capital management.

Who attends

  • Senior insurance practitioners and executives
  • CROs, risk managers and heads of function
  • Board members with governance and risk oversight duties

Cohorts bring together board members, executives and the rising leaders behind them — kept deliberately small, so every seat is a peer’s.

Frequently asked

Do the programmes cover reinsurance and underwriting discipline?

Yes — the insurance curriculum includes advanced reinsurance, underwriting portfolio management, captives and alternative risk transfer, business interruption and specialty lines such as project cargo. Participants leave able to structure a reinsurance programme, steer an underwriting portfolio by its numbers, and price the risks their market actually writes.

Is there content on risk management and finance for insurers specifically?

Yes. Dedicated programmes cover market and liquidity risk management for insurers, enterprise risk management, running effective risk workshops, and finance for insurance professionals. The material is written for insurers’ balance sheets, not adapted from banking slides.

Can a programme be run privately inside our company?

Yes. Every BIZENIUS programme is available in-house, tailored to your lines of business, your market and your regulatory context, in English or French. Insurers often use private editions to put underwriting, claims and risk teams through the same casework together.

In which languages and formats do the insurance programmes run?

English and French, in classroom, live virtual and hybrid formats. BIZENIUS delivers from Dubai and Bangalore and on client sites, having served 150+ client organisations across 45+ countries on four continents.

Capital frameworks built to run the bank, not to satisfy a filing

Most frameworks are written to satisfy the regulator. We build the kind that run the bank.
