The programme
Most HR business partners inherited the title, not the seat. The role the business needs is not the generalist it replaced: aligned to a business unit, treating its leader as the client, sharing accountability for results, and present in the conversations about the business, not only those about people. Earning it takes three things HR careers rarely teach. The numbers: enough financial fluency to read a P&L and a workforce cost base, and to argue a talent investment as every other function must. Evidence on people: the few measures a leadership team actually uses, tied to business goals, and the discipline to decide from facts. Influence: the trust of line leaders, and the ability to move a management team through change. The masterclass works all three on participants’ own units and closes with each partner’s ninety-day plan. For HR business partners, HR directors and heads of HR, HR managers and advisers moving into partnering, and talent leads. Next open session in Doha, Qatar, 9–10 December 2026; in-house editions across the GCC and Africa in English and French.

Programme agenda
Built for the decisions no textbook prepares you for
I.The seat: what a business partner answers for
- The partner the business needs versus the generalist it had — and why the title alone changes nothing
- The business leader as client: one unit, one strategy, shared results
- What earns a place in the business conversation, and what loses it
II.Numbers the business respects
- Reading the P&L, the balance sheet and the workforce cost base as an HR partner
- What a hire, a vacancy, a promotion and an exit actually cost the unit
- The investment case for people, built the way finance builds every other case
III.Evidence on people
- The few people measures a leadership team uses, and the many it ignores
- A people dashboard tied to the unit’s goals, read in the same meeting as the sales numbers
- Retention and engagement with a cost and a return attached
- Working session: each partner builds the dashboard for their own unit
IV.Influence, change and the ninety-day plan
- Trust with line leaders: candour, consistency and keeping confidences
- From values on the wall to behaviours managers can be held to
- Carrying a management team through a change: sponsors, sceptics and the first visible win
- Closing session: the ninety-day plan for the partner role, agreed with your leadership
Frequently asked
How is a strategic HR business partner different from an HR generalist?
The generalist serves the whole organisation and answers for HR processes. The business partner is aligned to one business unit, treats its leader as the client, shares accountability for the unit’s results, and is in the room for the conversations about the business, not only the ones about people. The masterclass works that distinction on each participant’s own unit, including the move from the old partner role to the one the business now needs.
What does the masterclass build?
Three capabilities HR careers rarely teach: the financial fluency to read a P&L and a workforce cost base and argue a people investment in the terms the business uses; the evidence discipline to choose the few people measures a leadership team will use and decide from facts; and the influence to earn line leaders’ trust and carry a management team through change. It is a BIZENIUS programme and awards a BIZENIUS certificate of completion; it is not affiliated with, and does not prepare for, any third-party certification.
Who should attend the Strategic HR Business Partner Masterclass?
HR business partners, HR managers and advisers moving into partnering, HR directors and heads of HR repositioning the function from administration to partnership, and talent, learning and organisation development leads who work alongside business units. Business leaders who want to know what to ask of their HR partner are welcome too.
Can the programme be run in-house for our HR team?
Yes. Like every BIZENIUS programme it is available in-house, built on your organisation, its business units and the role your partner community is moving into, with the dashboards and ninety-day plans done on your own data. Programmes are delivered in English and French. Open sessions run on a rolling calendar with dates confirmed on request; fees and quotations are shared on enquiry.
Where and when is the next HR business partner course?
The next open session runs in Doha, Qatar, on 9–10 December 2026 (Wednesday to Thursday), in person. It draws HR business partners and HR leaders from across the GCC — Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait — and from Africa. In-house editions run anywhere on request.
Is this an HRBP certification?
No. It is a two-day practitioner masterclass that ends with a BIZENIUS certificate of completion listing the topics covered. It is not affiliated with any certifying body and does not prepare for an external exam. People choose it over a certification when they want to leave with a dashboard and a ninety-day plan for their own business unit rather than a credential.
What is the HR business partner model, and does the masterclass follow it?
The business partner model splits HR into shared services, centres of expertise and partners embedded with business units, so that one person answers to each business leader for people outcomes. The masterclass takes that embedded partner role as its starting point and works what it needs in practice — financial fluency, evidence on people and influence — rather than teaching the model’s theory.
Does it suit HR teams working under Qatarisation, Emiratisation or Saudisation targets?
Yes. A business partner in the Gulf is judged on national talent as much as on cost and performance, so the dashboard work includes the readiness of national successors for key roles. For the recruitment side of nationalisation see Recruitment & Retention Strategies (Nationalisation); for preparing nationals to lead, see The Handover.
Who teaches this
