The programme

HR functions that cannot show their strategy driving organisational goals stay administrative, whatever their title says. This course equips HR professionals — including L&D teams — to develop and implement HR strategies that align with organisational objectives, translate them into actionable plans, and measure and communicate their impact. Participants apply analytical tools such as SWOT, PEST and PEDSTL to strategic planning, set measurable HR goals and key performance indicators, and work through talent attraction and retention, training design, performance management, compensation and benefits, turnover, budgeting and ethics. The emphasis throughout is on integrating L&D practice to build capability and continuous improvement — and on preparing the cohort to lead their organisations to sustainable competitive advantage.

What you will do

Develop an HR strategy aligned with business objectives, applying SWOT, PEST and PEDSTL to the strategic planning behind it.
Set measurable HR goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) that survive scrutiny from the executive team.
Implement strategies to attract, select and retain top talent, and manage turnover with deliberate retention strategies.
Design and deliver training and development programmes that build capability and a culture of continuous improvement.
Run performance management systems that drive productivity and engagement, and analyse compensation and benefits for competitiveness and fairness.
Align HR budgeting with strategic objectives, allocating resources where the strategy needs them.
Evaluate and communicate the impact of HR initiatives to senior management, with ethics and core values integrated into practice.

Frequently asked

What analytical tools does the strategic HR masterclass use?

Participants apply SWOT, PEST and PEDSTL to strategic planning, then set measurable HR goals and key performance indicators that survive scrutiny from the executive team. The emphasis is on translating HR strategy into actionable plans, and on measuring and communicating its impact to senior management.

What ground does the masterclass cover beyond strategy tools?

The full operating span of a strategic HR function: talent attraction, selection and retention, training design, performance management, compensation and benefits, turnover, budgeting and ethics. Throughout, L&D practice is integrated to build capability and continuous improvement — a distinctive emphasis of this programme.

Who should attend, and is the course available in-house?

It is designed for heads of HR and HR directors, HR leaders and managers, learning and development teams, and HR advisors and talent managers. BIZENIUS delivers it in English and French, with in-house editions tailored to your organisation; sessions run on a rolling calendar with dates confirmed on request, and fees and quotations on enquiry.

What is strategic human resource management?

Strategic human resource management is the practice of setting HR’s plans from the organisation’s objectives rather than from HR’s own calendar: deciding what the strategy needs from people, turning that into measurable HR goals and budgets, running talent, performance, reward and development to deliver them, and reporting the result to senior management in business terms. The masterclass teaches the tools, the measures and the budgeting that make that real.

Is this an HR certification course?

No. It is a BIZENIUS practitioner masterclass with a BIZENIUS certificate of completion listing the topics covered. It is not affiliated with any HR certifying body and does not prepare for an external exam; it suits HR leaders who want a strategy, KPIs and a budget for their own function rather than a credential.

Where does the masterclass run, and does it suit HR teams in the GCC and Africa?

Open sessions run on a rolling calendar in Dubai, Doha, London and the cohort’s nearest hub, with dates confirmed on request; in-house editions run anywhere. For Gulf HR teams the strategy work includes nationalisation targets — Qatarisation, Emiratisation and Saudisation — as business objectives HR is measured on; for African banks and corporates it includes the talent-retention pressures of fast-growing markets.

Who teaches this

Practitioners, not presenters.

Led by practitioners who have run people functions and built academies inside institutions, alongside senior consultants who design capability programmes for banks, energy companies and public bodies. They teach the people agenda as executives experience it: argued in commercial terms, measured, and answerable to a board.

What the bench brings

  • Setting up and running an HR function
  • Workforce assessment, HR metrics and dashboards
  • Recruitment, selection and assessment centres
  • Performance management and talent acquisition
  • Digital and business strategy
  • Enterprise-wide transformation programmes

Where they have practised

Current and former practitioners — people who hold the seat today alongside those who have held it.

Sectors: Banking & financial services · Manufacturing & industry · Oil & gas · Professional services

Regions: Africa · the Middle East · Europe · Asia · the Americas

How they teach

  • Case studies and role plays on real people decisions
  • Group discussion and peer challenge
  • Practical tools, templates and dashboards
  • Self-assessment and reflection
  • A personal action plan to take back

Cohorts are kept small so every exercise is worked on the participants’ own situations — in person or live virtual.
